The new reliable cylinder for heavy loads
Bosch Rexroth’s electromechanical cylinders (EMCs) are now also available in the form of high-precision, low-maintenance HighPower version EMC-HP. Designed for heavy loads up to 100 kN, the new powerpacks are robust, compact and low-maintenance. Based on the reliable planetary screw drive, users will benefit from impressive continuous power even under harsh conditions. This is thanks to both the new oil-bath lubrication and the optional water cooling directly on the screw itself. As with the other members of the EMC family, a fully digital process, from selection through to ordering, shortens the engineering time.
Digitalization of industrial hydraulics creates added value along the entire process chain
Both the manufacturers of machines and systems and end users face increasingly stiff global competition. Investment decisions are made on a more short-term basis and OEMs need to come up with individually tailored machine and system concepts more quickly. Product variance and thus the requirements as regards the adaptability of production systems are increasing. At the same time, system availability is a key factor when it comes to productivity. In addition to all these technical issues, the mechanical and plant engineering sectors – especially hydraulics – are faced with a worsening lack of specialist staff.

ctrlX AUTOMATION apps pave the way for Engineering 4.0
Digitalized processes, increasing customization, short lead times and further requirements are changing how engineers work in industries such as mechanical engineering. As such, they need tools that can support them in carrying out their daily tasks, some of which are completely new to them. Bosch Rexroth is therefore gradually expanding its ctrlX AUTOMATION platform and related ecosystem with apps for modern engineering. These help, for example, to speed up the engineering process as software development is accounting for an increasingly large proportion of the time involved in mechanical engineering.

Automation based on the smartphone principle thanks to Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX Store
Bosch Rexroth offers users the option to quickly and easily obtain access to automation solutions or create apps themselves with ctrlX AUTOMATION. As such, the open automation platform adopts an approach similar to that of smartphones. Customers can now purchase apps via the ctrlX Store, manage software licenses via the Bosch Rexroth Licensing Center and assign them to a device. This works both for apps developed by Bosch Rexroth and for those from third-party providers.
